Shelter Winner

Friends of Matènwa is a nonprofit  that makes affordable, environmentally-friendly housing available to those in need. Through USAID's Diaspora Partnership Accelerator, Friends of Matènwa will begin construction on houses in Lagonav, Haiti in October. They will help train local construction workers in disaster resilient practices so that homes built are designed to reduce disaster exposure and waste. Their innovative loan model approach will provide low-income families with an opportunity to own the land and house through financial training and income generation opportunities.
